The XAP Technology FOV4 steering wheel combines driver controls and onboard displays for manufacturers and teams competing in motorsport. Its dual sunlight-readable displays, Hall-effect controls and 16 configurable RGB LEDs give the driver fast access to essential information and settings. Designed and forged in-house by XAP, its forged-carbon structure combines rigidity with low weight. The FOV4 has passed FIA crash tests.
The FOV4 combines a 4.3-inch main TFT display with a 1.3-inch round TFT display integrated into the central rotary switch. Up to 60 fully configurable display pages organise the data required by the driver, while configurable alert banners and warnings make priority information easier to identify.
XAP adapts the front panel to each project with engraved buttons, a selection of colours available on request and full steering wheel customisation. The connector can be positioned centrally or remotely, and the steering wheel is compatible with most quick-release systems available on the market.
The optional DashEditor licence enables teams to create a screen configuration from scratch or adapt an existing configuration. Depending on the project, XAP can also provide a preconfigured or project-specific software setup. The PF0981 simulator version is compatible with rFactor and Assetto Corsa.
The FOV4 integrates into vehicle architectures operating from an 8 to 70 V power supply and communicates over CAN. XAP streamlines commissioning through DBC file management, configurable display pages and customisable alerts. A central or remote connector allows the wiring layout to be adapted to the selected mechanical installation.
The steering wheel supports CAN 2.0B and CAN FD. The CAN protocol is selectable, and DBC file import is supported. Before installation, XAP recommends validating the wiring, protection devices, CAN termination, communication baud rate and ECU compatibility against the project configuration.
