The XAP Technology Formula V4S steering wheel (FOV4S) brings essential controls, alerts and vehicle data together in an interface designed for racing teams. Its 4.3-inch main display and 1.3-inch central display provide clear access to information and vehicle settings. Its distributed electronic architecture, Hall-effect controls and scalable configuration help each team tailor the steering wheel to its project.
The FOV4S provides up to 60 fully configurable display pages. Its 16 RGB LEDs can indicate engine speed or alerts, while displayed alert banners and warnings remain configurable. An 18-position central rotary ring surrounds the second display, allowing the team to assign a setting and show the associated information close to the driver’s hand.
XAP manufactures the front face, rear face and handles from forged carbon, with design and forging carried out in-house. The six paddles and four rotary switches use non-contact Hall-effect technology, reducing contact-related mechanical wear and supporting repeatable operation. The 12 illuminated push buttons make the controls easier to identify in the cockpit.
Two H7 microcontrollers and one processor distribute the computing load across advanced calculations, maths channels and virtual channels. CAN communication, DBC import and display configuration support FOV4S integration into a racing vehicle’s electronic architecture. XAP can also assist with front-face customisation, software configuration, connectivity and the selection of a quick release system suited to the project.
The DashEditor licence is available as an option for configuring screens and display pages. Depending on the version and project, XAP also offers CSV data acquisition, an HID licence for simulator use, and preconfigured or project-specific software configuration.
The FOV4S operates from an 8 to 70 V supply and communicates over CAN 2.0b or CAN FD. XAP supports integration through DBC import and project-specific configuration options. Before applying power, the installer must confirm the connector, quick release, CAN termination, protection devices and wiring required for the vehicle.
The steering wheel accepts a central or remote connector and is compatible with most quick release systems available on the market, subject to validation of the selected mechanical and electrical interface. XAP can prepare software configuration for the project and provide the required licences.
