The XAP Technology GTRT STEERING WHEEL is a customisable motorsport steering wheel for GT, rally-raid and hybrid vehicle projects. It combines eight backlit push buttons, two contactless rotary controls and two or three paddles to suit customer requirements. Its CAN interface transmits driver commands while retaining physical paddle outputs. XAP can tailor the front panel and mounting arrangement to simplify cockpit integration.
The eight backlit push buttons make controls easier to identify in the cockpit. Two 10-position rotary switches use contactless Hall effect technology. The aluminium body and screen-free design suit projects that prioritise direct steering-wheel controls.
XAP can customise the front panel by laser engraving a logo or image and can engrave the buttons on request. XAP can also adapt the steering column mounting for different quick-release systems, including XAP, SPA Design and Momo solutions, depending on the project. This approach helps create a coherent cockpit without imposing a single architecture.
The GTRT STEERING WHEEL brings its power supply, CAN bus and two physical paddle outputs together on a 6-way connector. XAP can support the integrator with the mounting and connection arrangement. Before power-up, the installer must check the pin allocation, polarity, CAN baud rate, termination and protocol compatibility with the ECU or master system.
The steering wheel operates from an 8 to 19 V supply and uses a UT0W-0-10-6SH6 connector.
The steering wheel transmits the button states and paddle analogue threshold values over CAN. For hard-wired control, pins BT_P_1 and BT_P_2 provide two independent physical switch-to-ground outputs. The project can therefore use the paddles over CAN or directly through the connector.
